Welcome to the Art in the Streets Photo Challenge! Instructions on how to share your photos are at the end of this post. This week I will take you to into a Sydney laneway to share the nostalgic artwork “Forgotten Songs” which aims to please both your eyes and your ears.
Forgotten Songs in Angel Place
Side step the crowds on George Street into the peaceful seclusion of Angel Place. An array of bird cages hangs high above the cobblestones between the tall buildings. The empty cages are a symbolic reminder that the area was once home to many species of native birds.
The display is named “Forgotten Songs”. If you listen carefully you can still hear the birds singing and calling above your head. Look beneath your feet. The names of birds are engraved in the path.
Enjoy a quiet moment or two in the lane away from busy city streets.
